Our Historicity

Being mindful of the historicity of the Tamkeen Process is about looking at a process’ evolution in time and how it reflects in the mirror of how we define ourselves and what we do as well as in the mirror of global discourses on education, systems change and development. It is also about understanding the subtle interplays of time, context, place, momentum, process velocity as well the interplay of local and systemic.

Revisiting Tamkeen’s historicity is a way to continuously rediscover our own actuality and narrative. This allows us to go deeper into our comprehension and, at the same time, broader in our self-perception and proprioception with the full humility and understanding of our
responsibility.

The Tamkeen Process started in 2007 in Morocco, before our institution’s inception in 2009, with questions on human and social development. These were shaped by the crossed lenses of national and international experiences in the social, health and government sectors, management consultancy and investment banking of the Tamkeen founding members.

Our Direction

Our Nia is the wind that blows the sails of our governance model.

The essence of the essence of the Tamkeen Approach, Love, blows the wind, is and weaves the fabric of our sails and flows the ocean that we navigate.

Our guiding constellations are our growing shared understanding of our human potential
– the potential to trust our humanity – and the understanding of our understanding.

Our direction is « A Humanizing Society », a process that embodies its own meaning and end.
The experienced transformation is metamorphic in nature referring to its embeddedness in the immanence of our human, community and societal potential. This is what we call societal
metamorphosis.

Our Action

We facilitate the self-facilitation processes of our team and of our partners and we cocreate the conditions with our partners for the emergence of community based learning ecosystems.

The “softness” of the Tamkeen facilitation allows an organic growth and a flowing movement of resonance. It entails playfulness, finding the ease together in the pressure, sensing the propensity and the path that all are willing to learn to walk together whilst paving it and facilitating the co-reflection on what is, individually and collectively, experienced. Challenges become the opportunities to together uncover and discover. Our dissonances become friends to befriend. Methodologies become an embodied understanding. Tools and techniques become playful games. The facilitator becomes the facilitation.  Scaling becomes the facilitation of a process of diffusion. We delight in wonder to see how “action” becomes learning to facilitate “what is coming by itself”.

Our Organization

We mindfully strive for our organization to be an embodiement of our Nia. Hence we learn together with our partners to weave coherence and experience what it means that the unit of the structure of life and the flowing energy of our organization is the essence of the Tamkeen Approach (love freed from conditions, trust in our human potential and humanity and epistemic humility).

The institutional model and legal framework that facilitated our institutional coherence are a not-for profit “community foundation”. We are free from any affiliations (political, religious, …). We seek for the confluence, where we can all meet in our shared humanity.

The structure of Tamkeen is a dissolving-structure. Structure hence does not get in the way of the essence, but becomes a self-sustaining, self-evolving, self-regenerating
expression of the essence and that sustains the essence. As soon as words are
determined, procedures and principles co-defined, management systems and experience based concepts designed, we let go of them and let them slowly dissolve hence they offer the humus for organic new growth.

The inside and outside line of our organization is blurred, in fact it is also slowly dissolving. Our team members are mostly members of the different communities we have cocreated partnerships with, and the experience of « being a team » extends to embrace all our
partners in the resonance of our deep human relationships.

Our Navigation

The focus of attention of our facilitation is oriented by our growing awareness of
systems’ interconnectedness, interdependence and propensity.

Our navigation astrolabe has coordinates that move with the growth of our shared
understanding with our partners and the understanding of our understanding. They are informed by the continuous co-reflection of our experiences, our appreciation and recognition model, our knowledge management system, our open research ecosystem and the ongoing socio-systemic complexity evaluation (the mirror to the mirror).

Our governance model is a manifestation of the Tamkeen Process and so are the
emergent community models of our partners, their emergent governance models and
the emergent community based learning ecosystems. We talk about manifestations of the Tamkeen Process rather than results and outcomes as the latter imply a
reductionist relation of causality between an “activity” and its “outcome”. Project
managerial causation does not apply to the complexity in which the processes we facilitate are evolving in and are characterized by.

We access the manifestations in their story form: the narratives of the witnessed,
experienced and of what becomes possible. The stories depict what is and what is
potentially in the becoming. We indicate the stories, as witnessed, experienced and expressed by our partners, our team members and evaluators with their quotes. These are curated from external evaluation reports and the Tamkeen Metadata System.
The manifestations landscapes are framed with the lenses of “sense-of-self”, “social coherence and resonance”, and “co-imagined possible futures”.
